CHUO FOOD SERVICE Co., Ltd. × Sasaki Green Tea Company powered by QMS TRACE

On May 21, we visited Sasaki Green Tea Company (located in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture), a supplier of CHUO FOOD SERVICE Co., Ltd. The company is a long-established tea manufacturer specializing in deep-steamed tea, handling everything from tea leaf harvesting to production and packaging in-house. Over the years, they have won the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award a total of 34 times and became the first Japanese tea brand to receive a three-star rating from the International Taste Institute (formerly iTQi) in Belgium, earning high recognition both domestically and internationally.

The visit took place just after the new tea harvest had concluded, allowing us to tour the vast tea fields under their own management. In Japan, there is a common perception that "tea is served for free," which is why the company recognizes the importance of directly conveying their commitment to authenticity and daily efforts, and they actively share information through various channels.

Later, at the company’s headquarters, a briefing was held on how to utilize the digital tool QMS TRACE for newly traded products between Sasaki Green Tea Company and CHUO FOOD SERVICE Co., Ltd. CHUO FOOD SERVICE Co., Ltd. expressed their expectations for the trust gained by directly communicating the producer’s passion to customers. Meanwhile, Sasaki Green Tea Company shared insights into their current invoicing process, which involves manual operations using paper and PDF files each month. They also highlighted the challenges of dealing with individual shops that are not yet equipped for online transactions, emphasizing the growing need to streamline analog processes.

At the Café, “Cha no niwa”, an annexed facility, visitors can enjoy a variety of tea-inspired menu items. Surrounded by the serene tea fields, we reflected on our future initiatives. Imagining the joy of customers scanning QR codes on invoiced products via Peppol, we remain committed to exploring various possibilities that digital tools can bring.
