Blockchain and Non-Fungible Tokens: The New Challenges of the Art Market

On April 10th, in Milan, the Briola & Partners law firm hosted an event interconnecting art, technology, and law.
The occasion was the presentation of the book, "Blockchain and Non-Fungible Tokens: The New Challenges of the Art Market" a comprehensive exploration of the evolving landscape of the art market in the digital age. Authored by Federico Feggi, our CTO, alongside two legal minds Riccardo Feggi and Alessandro Grassi, the book delves into the revolutionary impact of blockchain technology, in particular non-fungible tokens (NFTs), on art commerce and copyright law.

The event was not only a celebration of the book's publication but also an art exhibition, as attendees had the opportunity to experience a showcase of diverse digital artworks, each presented on screens, with the authors providing detailed commentary on the innovative techniques employed in the creation of the artworks. This exhibition underscored the book's central themes: the transformative power of digital technology in the art world and the emerging legal challenges and opportunities it presents.

A highlight of the evening was the collaboration with Elia Festa, a renowned artist who has seamlessly transitioned from traditional to digital art. Festa's involvement exemplified the book's core message, which is the potential of digital art to redefine artistic creation and ownership in the blockchain era. As one of the first Italian artists to embrace digital mediums, Festa's contributions enriched the presentation, providing attendees with a firsthand look at the convergence of art and technology.
