Hiratsuka City decided to use QMS TRACE to conduct a food traceability pilot project until the end of February 2025. The Hiratsuka City Fisheries Cooperative Association attaches a QR code that can obtain information about the supply chain, and delivers to a local market called Asatsuyu Hiroba. When consumers pick up the food, they can easily obtain the supply chain information by scanning the QR code, which will make them feel more comfortable about their food and increase the added value of the product.
On October 16, the day before of the pilot project, we had a final meeting with the Hiratsuka City Industry Promotion Division at the Hiratsuka Fisheries Cooperative Association office to take all possible measures to provide ‘food safety’, such as checking the QR code information to be attached to the product. The supply chain information for the products handled by the fishery cooperative, such as when and from which company they were delivered, and when they were on display at Asatsuyu Hiroba, was entered into the app. The content of the information that consumers would read from the QR code was also confirmed.
It is very important to communicate food safety to consumers in a simple and intuitive way. It is also expected that this will increase trust in the fishery cooperative's products and further expand their sales destinations. On the first day of the pilot project, products with QR codes were successfully put on display in the store. We visited Asatsuyu Hiroba market with Mrs. Kawaguchi, Chief of the Hiratsuka City Industry Promotion Division.
It's nice to see a good start, with customers already picking up the products and showing interest in the information they can get by scanning the QR code. During the trial period, we will be collecting feedback from customers who have picked up the products, as well as feedback from Asatsuyu Hiroba and the fishing association, and will be periodically investigating what added value has been gained from the information obtained from the QR code. We hope you'll all try some delicious Hiratsuka fish!
